Last week, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced it would be bringing both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of Taiko Drum Master to North America and Europe this November.
Thanks to website Bemanistyle, it looks like Bandai Namco has no plans currently to release the Taiko Drum controller peripheral in the West. It’s a bit of a disappointment to hear this if you were planning on getting the game on the PlayStation 4, so the only way to play the game when it is released is by using the PlayStation 4 controller. It doesn’t affect the Nintendo Switch version that much since motion controls are integrated into the joy-cons so while there is no drum you can still fully enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played.
There is a way to get around this, if you really want to enjoy the game with the Taiko drums attachment like me, you can order the Japanese Taiko Drum peripheral from places like Amazon.JP or Play-Asia which will run you about $75 for the Switch and $50 for the PlayStation 4.
It also appears that there are no plans to release a physical version for either version in North America. It’s not a huge surprise but hopefully it sells well enough to warrant physical releases for future releases.
