During a set visit last year Collider, learned a lot about Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, and one big thing that was learned was that Hank Pym’s wife, Janet Van Dyne will make an appearance in the film. Janet Van Dyne, aka “Wasp”, was a founding member of the Avengers, and like Hank Pym, She has the ability to shrink down and fly. She can also fire bioelectric energy blasts.
In Ant-Man she is seen briefly, although no actress has been named for the role. She is confirmed to be Hank Pym’s wife in the movie and appears in a flashback, and while we don’t know if she does indeed die or gets lost in the microverse, Pym blames S.H.I.E.L.D. and ends up resenting superheroes. It’s a good motivation for why Pym hasn’t been suiting up for all this time if Wasp is either dead or lost.
If Wasp is indeed dead in the MCU then I would expect to see Pym’s daughter, Hope Van Dyne, dawns the Wasp costume. It would seem like a wasted opportunity to discard a superhero like wasp since Marvel at the moment is lacking in the female superhero department.
