A few months ago, Best Buy ended it’s Gamers Club Unlocked program, then Gamestop shut down it’s Elite Plus membership and now Amazon will be discontinuing it’s 20% off pre-order discount on physical releases effective August 28th.
It’s a shame really, the 20% off plus free two days shipping is what drew me to joining Amazon Prime but with the $20 increase kind of leaves me wondering if I will be renewing seeing as most of the things I ordered from Amazon was video games and the occasional items here and there. Amazon instead will be going the route of Best Buy and offering a $10 credit that will only be available on select titles.
Until then, it’s probably a smart idea to lock in those pre-orders since it looks like anything get between now and the 28th will be honored with the 20% discount as long as you are still an Amazon Prime member when it releases. So it might be a good time to get that Kingdom Hearts 3, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate now.
