Director Taika Waititi confirmed to Inverse that long-gestating Star Wars movie is no longer moving forward. The filmmaker revealed the news during a press junket for his upcoming film, Klara and the Sun. He and screenwriter Tony McNamara are now collaborating on a different, undisclosed project instead.
“I hate to break this to you, but we’re going to actually put it on ice and we’re working on a different thing together,” Waititi told the outlet. McNamara, known for writing The Favourite and Poor Things, had previously taken over scripting duties on the Star Wars project. Their new collaboration remains a mystery.
