Publisher XSEED Games was set to release Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal this December but those plans have been changed as the company revealed back on Friday that the game will be delayed as the company will remove some of the game’s content at “the wishes of the platform holder.”
The content in question is the games interactive “Intimacy Mode” and is only being removed from the PlayStation 4 version of the game. The Steam version of the game will not have any content removed but XSEED confirmed that the Steam version will also be delayed so both versions can come out at the same time.
While Sony has been more lenient to games with this type of content in the past, it has requested companies from removing content in the past including Idea Factory International’s Monster Monpiece, NIS America’s Mugen Souls Z which had a similar mode. Many fans have voiced their anger with the move saying that they are canceling their pre-orders of the game or will not bother to pick it up but you have to realize that if the company didn’t do what was requested of them, chances are the game wouldn’t be released at all on the PlayStation 4 at all and XSEED which spent tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousand localizing the game would just end up losing all that money.
If you aren’t happy with Sony’s decision to remove the mode from the game, voice your opinions reasonably and politely to them and support the Steam version of the game if you can.
Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal is a remake of Senran Kagura Burst which made its appearance on the Nintendo 3DS in North America back in 2013. It’s the 2nd game in the series to appear on the PlayStation 4 following last year’s release of Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash.
