Prisoner of War Blu-ray Review: POW KO

Watching Scott Adkins kick people is one of the rarified thrills of modern cinema. His latest vehicle, Prisoner of War, directed by frequent costar Louis Mandylor, takes the underground fights of Undisputed and transports them back to a WWII POW camp.

Blu-ray highlights the strong production values of the film. It’s a period piece, set in a physical location. The lush forest surrounding the POW camp contrasts the squalor in which the POWs are kept. At night, it holds up with strong lighting on the foreground against the night sky.

It’s all a backdrop for physical hand to hand choreography that delivers once again as Adkins takes on enemy soldiers and trained combatants.

Surround sounds enhance the wartime atmosphere with airplane flyovers and machine gun fire.
