DC STUDIOS: “JIMMY OLSEN” IS GETTING A SERIES ON ‘HBO MAX’

Superman‘s pal Jimmy Olsen, had his own Comic book series for a long time. And now, he’s  about to get his own HBO MAX series. Skyler Gisondo is expected to reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen in this Superman spin-off show — which, according to Variety has been titled DC CRIME.

DC Studios and HBO Max are developing “DC Crime,” a fictional true crime docuseries that will be hosted by Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo. The series marks an innovative blend of the superhero genre with mockumentary-style storytelling.

Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the Emmy-nominated duo behind Netflix’s acclaimed “American Vandal,” will write, executive produce, and showrun the series.

This project continues Yacenda and Perrault’s track record of cleverly spoofing documentary formats—previously earning them a Peabody Award for “American Vandal” and creating the eSports mockumentary “Players” for Paramount+.

“The concept centers on Olsen, as well as other Daily Planet reporters (minus Lois Lane and Clark Kent), who tackle cases involving super-powered villains. In an article in The Hollywood Reporter it states. “Gorilla Grodd would be in the spotlight for the season.  Grodd is a super-intelligent evil ape who rules a secret African city named Gorilla City.

And that being said, it’s an interesting idea. But how are they gonna get around not seeing Lois, Clark,  or Superman?  Hmmmm… I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
