SUPERMAN SEQUEL GETS AN OFFICIAL NAME AND RELEASE DATE.

If things go according to plan, there will be a new Superman movie and a new Batman movie in 2027.  SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW  in July, and Robert Pattinson‘s THE BATMAN 2 in October.

Director and DC Films co-head James Gunn took to social media on Wednesday to announce an official title and release date for the project. “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.

But I call this more of a placeholder title than something set in stone. Do you remember the title “Superman: Legacy”, And “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”? Those film titles changed to simply Superman and Supergirl, losing the fancy-shmancy add-ons. So when July 9, 2027 rolls around, we’ll see if “Superman: Man of Tomorrow”is on the Theater ticket. Which, of course, I will be buying…

In his announcement, Gunn included a comic book image of Superman standing next to Lex Luthor in his Warsuit. In the DC comics, Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult in the film) creates the suit in order match Superman’s strength and abilities.

“Man of Tomorrow” will follow the 2026 releases of the outer space-set “SUPERGIRL ” (starring Milly Alcock) and body horror “CLAYFACE”.  And it also means the “Superman” sequel will debut before Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II,” as it is currently slated to open on Oct. 1, 2027.
