I can’t believe a new original Star Wars film is in the pipeline. I know the film, the Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to come out Christmas 2026. But that’s more or less just the fourth season of the Mandalorian series in film-form.
Star Wars: Starfighter is the upcoming STAR WARS movie that comes from Deadpool & Wolverine director SHAWN LEVY. Starring RYAN GOSLING, MATT SMITH, AARON PIERRE, AMY ADAMS, etc… The project currently has a 2027 release date.
Star Wars: Starfighter has now officially started production in the United Kingdom, and the official Star Wars Twitter account has shared a behind-the-scenes photo taken from the set. It shows the first look at the characters played by Gosling and a co-star, Flynn Gray.
Director Shawn Levy had this to say; “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars: Starfighter is set approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The new movie currently has a May 28, 2027, release date.
so we’ll have a Star Wars film in 2026 and 2027. I’m good with that.
