80s Video Games Invade Earth in Second PIXELS Trailer

Last summer at San Diego’s Comic-Con, the producers of Sony’s video game film Pixels invited attendees to play vintage 80s arcade games like PAC-MAN, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Centipede, etc. Those quarter eaters are the forerunners of today’s platform and PC games. In the upcoming action-sci-fi-comedy, the characters from those games that would normally evoke nostalgia are used by aliens in an attempt to terrify and annihilate humanity. How can they be stopped? Check out the second trailer for the film!

The characters played by Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad are former video game nerds who are recruited to defend the Earth from this unusual alien attack. Michelle Monaghan plays Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten, who is the nerd’s handler and weapon specialist. Kevin James stars as the former arcade rat turned President of the United States, Will Cooper, the man who knows Sandler’s character wasn’t all that good at playing Donkey Kong.

Pixels will open in theaters on July 24th. The film stars Adam Sandler, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Sean Bean, Ashley Benson, Josh Gad, Kevin James, Lainie Kazan, Jane Krakowski, Brian Cox, Chris Parnell, Jared Sandler, Affion Crockett, Rob Archer and Rose Rollins. Timothy Dowling and Tim Herlihy wrote the screenplay based on the story by Patrick Jean and Adam Sandler. Chris Columbus directs.
