One of my favorite genres in all of cinema is post-apocalyptic movies where the survivors have to gather supplies. That entails a lot of Mad Max rip-offs for better or worse. The new 4K UHD of 2020: Texas Gladiators was my excuse to discover this one.
This Italian exploitation film is much more focused on rapist marauders, although they are surprisingly equal opportunity for 1983. And there’s not much of the supply gathering I like. They have their community pretty self-sufficient before marauders arrive.
But, for a Mad Max knockoff, there are some good motorcycle stunts. I hope no one got hurt. And it’s an attractive cast who seems game for it
This looks absurdly good in 4K for a low budget knockoff. The rubble is all clear. The heroes’ compound has enough greenery to make Furiosa jealous.
This film that previously existed mostly as a VHS cover also got the full special edition treatment. The Blu-ray enclosed contains the extras compiled from archival interviews, and a CD of the soundtrack.
