Variety reports that actor Pedro Pascal has landed a key role in director Patty Jenkins’ upcoming sequel, “WONDER WOMAN 2”, starring Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig. Pascal and Jenkins have worked previously on the TV movie “Exposed.”
Director Patty Jenkins is returning to write, direct, and produce the sequel. Last year, “Wonder Woman” opened to critical acclaim and regarded as one of best films in the DC extended universe. The film grossed an impressive $821 million worldwide, including $412 domestically.
Pascal is known for his performances as Oberyn Martell in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Netflix’s drama series “Narcos”, where he plays DEA agent Javier Peña. After starring in two Emmy-nominated series’, Pascal has been co-starring in a number of high-profile films such as director Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsmen: The Golden Circle” and director Antoine Fuqua’s “The Equalizer 2,” starring Denzel Washington.
Pascal is currently filming director J.C. Chandor’s “Triple Frontier” starring an all-star cast which includes Ben Affleck (“ARGO”), Oscar Isaac (“EX MACHINA”), Charlie Hunnam (“SONS OF ANARCHY”), and Garrett Hedlund (“MUDBOUND”) in Hawaii for Netflix.
