Sony Pictures has announced new release dates for the Mister Rogers biopic, “YOU ARE MY FRIEND”, starring Tom Hanks and “BAD BOYS FOR LIFE” with returning stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

First up is “YOU ARE MY FRIEND”, starring Oscar winning-actor Tom Hanks (“FORREST GUMP”), will be a biography/drama based off the real-life relationship between Fred Rogers and famed journalist Tom Junod. The premise for the film will see Junod inexplicably agreeing to write a profile piece on Mister Rogers and then discovering this new look on life after meeting Rogers.

“BAD BOYS FOR LIFE” has been off and on Sony’s release slate with the initial development picking up speed last year with director Joe Carnahan (“THE GREY”) coming on board to write and direct the third film, only to see everything fall apart as Carnahan decides to leave the project a few months later, prompting Sony to remove the third “BAD BOYS” film from their release slate. News broke in February that Sony Pictures had tapped Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct the film with Smith and Lawrence confirmed to return as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively.

Sony Pictures has scheduled “YOU ARE MY FRIEND” for an October 18, 2019 release date and “BAD BOYS FOR LIFE” will open in theaters January 17, 2020.
