Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” has been adding cast members faster than the speed of light this past week. Parts have gone out to actresses Karen Gillan (Dr. Who’s Amy Pond,) and veteran Glenn Close. Versatile actor John C. Reilly has been offered the role of Rhomann Dey, an intermediary between the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Earth’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Agency.
Gillan is said to be playing the lead female villain, while Close will portray a leading member of the Nova Corps intergalactic space patrol. Both characters’ identities have not been revealed.

U.S. pilot Peter Quill ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” will be released on August 1, 2014. Production is set to start sometime in June. The film currently stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord,) Dave Bautista (Drax,) Michael Rooker (Yondu,) Zoë Saldaña (Gamora,) Ophelia Lovibond, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Enzo Cilenti, and John C. Riley (rumored.) Chris McCoy, Nicole Perlman, and James Gunn wrote the screenplay based on the Marvel comic book by the same name, which was originally created by Gene Colan, Arnold Drake, Dan Abnett, and Andy Lanning. James Gunn directs.
