Star Wars fans, we’re excited to tell you about a cool new comic book mini-series coming in April of 2019! Star Wars: Tie Fighter tells the story about an elite group of Tie Fighter pilots known as Shadow Wing who are dispatched to protect Imperial interests just after the events of Return of the Jedi. The new series will be penned by Jody Houser who wrote one of our favorite Star Wars comic book adaptations, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for Marvel comics released in December of 2017. Houser also worked on Star Wars: Thrawn as well as a slew of other Star Wars comic books published by Marvel Comics.
Artists Rogê Antônio (X-Men: Red, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey), as well as Giuseppe Camuncoli and Elia Bonetti (Star Wars: Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith) will provide art for the mini-series. Additionally, Star Wars: Tie Fighter will take place during the time frame of the upcoming Star Wars novel, Alphabet Squadron written by Alexander Freed and published by Del Rey Books. Starwars.com explains that the comic book and the novel will be a crossover series.
“The exciting new crossover series from Del Rey and Marvel comics, set after Return of the Jedi, will follow the brutal fallout during the fall of the Empire from both sides of the battle.”
Alphabet Squadron will be released in April as well and will be the first book in a trilogy series. Could we see an exclusive Alphabet Squadron cover released at the big Star Wars convention, Star Wars Celebration Chicago in April? Time will tell but for the meantime check out the art below and May The Force Be With You…
