In a shocking turn of events, “Beyond Good And Evil 2” has been revealed to be an online only game. Meaning you won’t be able to play the game without an internet connection.

On Ubisoft’s official website, they posted a Q&A regarding some questions they are getting.

Most alarming of which is as follows…

Will we always need an internet connection even if we’re playing BGE2 solo? (o_gilgamesh, Twitter)

To which the kind developers at Ubisoft responded…

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience. As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you’re playing as a Space Pirate!). The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you’re into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing…

Only time will tell if this will be accepted by fans. We here at Nuke The Fridge eagerly await more clarification, and better yet, justification. After all, we haven’t seen much of the game still. One can only hope for the best.
