Deadline Hollywood has an exclusive stating that Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are to write the sequel to Tom Cruise and Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow (Released in 2014; starring: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Brendan Gleeson, and Bill Paxon). Though the first film did not perform well at the box office (eventually grossing $100 million in the US and $270 million internationally), the fans and critics received it with positive reactions. The first film tied-up any loose ends, so Shrapnel and Waterhouse will have to find ways to get Blunt back with Cruise in the sequel. Doug Liman (directed the first film) is connected to direct with Erwin Stoff and Tom Lassally producing. Christopher McQuarrier (wrote the first film), is in talks to join the team as producer and developing the script with the writers.
