The Next SPIDER-MAN Will Explore His Teens

With Marvel producing and using Spider-Man in their third Captain America film, the studio has decided to send Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man back to his inevitable alma mater Midtown High School. Yes, they want a younger version of the character. So, say good-bye to Andrew Garfield. Partnering with Marvel, Sony is looking to recast the character.

Actors that are in the running to play the new webslinger include Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) and Logan Lerman (the Percy Jackson franchise, Fury.) Another spin Sony could pursue is to introduce another character who will don the Spider-Man costume. They could find solace with The New Spider-Man Miles Morales, whose father is African-American and mother is Puerto Rican. But it seems that Sony is more concerned, at the moment, in finding a new director to replace the exiting Marc Webb.

Spider-Man1

Sony has a finite amount of time to make their decision. Marvel wants to introduce the new actor playing Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, which will arrive in theaters sometime in 2016. In turn, Sony will launch their new Spider-Man in his own standalone film in 2017.
