Zenescope puts another unique and dark twist on a lovable classic and makes it something for both genders and adults. The Grimm Fairy Tales: The Little Mermaid #3 takes place after a young mermaid named Erica, is captured. Struggling to get away from a scientist who wants to experiment on her and create something else out of her, her true family history starts to come to light at the same time.
The story is by Joe Brusha and written by Meredith Finch (Wonder Woman) with wonderful artwork by Miguel Mendonca. I do love the Grimm Fairy Tales line because it provides a darker twist to a children’s story and it usually comes out great. So far, this one is no different and delivers with both the story and the artwork.
Zenescope is known for the great artist they have on their projects and this whole book is very beautiful from panel to panel. The colors make the book pop out and are wonderfully done, which makes each page easy on the eyes.
This story reminds me of an Aquaman type of story but with a mermaid in his place. It’s interesting, it has great to it and I will definitely be reading the next issue to see what happens.
The Grimm Fairy Tales: The Little Mermaid #3 hits stores this Wednesday.
