Originally revealed as Project Octopath Traveler, Square Enix Producer Masashi Takahashi appeared on today’s Nintendo Direct to release new information on what is simply known now as Octopath Traveler.
First two new characters were revealed, Tressa the Merchant who dreams of seeing the world and Alfyn the Apothecary who is on a quest to heal the sick and wounded. Each have unique abilities to help you in the game, Tressa’s ability “Purchase” let’s her obtain items from NPCs all over the realm while Alfyn uses his skill “Inquire” which lets him gather various pieces of information from people including locations of items, or even where to score deals.
It was also revealed that players will also be able to equip multiple jobs which mean you can discover some very unique combinations. Using your job points you can learn various skills, combine armor and weapons.
Square Enix also announced the Octopath Traveler: Wayfarer’s Edition, a Special Edition that includes pop-up book featuring all eight character in the game, a two-sided cloth map of the game world, the Octopath Traveler™: Sound Selections CD, and a replica coin based on the game’s currency.
Octopath Traveler will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on July 13th.
