Samurai Shodown set for June release for PS4 and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch in Q4

SNK’s iconic Samurai Shodown series is coming soon, how soon? Well SNK and Athlon Games revealed that the next installment is set for release in June on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Sadly, Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait longer as the game is set for a Q4 2019 release and a PC release is TBD.

Being developed on the Unreal Engine 4, the game is set after the events of Samurai Shodown V and prior to the events of the original Samurai Shodown. Thirteen characters will be making a return including Haohmaru, Nakoruru, Galford, Jubei Yagyu, Earthquake, Charlotte, Tam Tam, and Ukyo Tachibana with three brand new characters set to join the fight, along with additional characters being added via DLC post-launch.

Samurai Shodown will include a Story, Practice, Online Battle and multiple offline battle modes along with a new online mode called “Dojo” where players can upload a ghost A.I. that battles based on your playstyle to take on various challenges including 1v1 Battles and a 100-ghost fight known as Ironman Challenge.

With Samurai Shodown announced as one of the games to be played at EVO 2019, it will be fun to see what players will discover between the release date and the tournament. Who will you main?
