The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler (Director Black Panther) have reached an agreement to have Coogler return to write and direct the hotly anticipated Black Panther sequel. Black Panther was a massive hit for Marvel/ Disney Studios earning $1.23 billion worldwide. The studio was very eager to lock in Coogler for a sequel after the massive success of the first film. Fans of the comic book and the film were very vocal online, hopeful that Coogler would return to helm the next chapter of the Wakanda King. It is expected Ryan will begin writing the sequel sometime in 2019 with an estimated release date somewhere between 2021 and 2022.
Ryan Coogler is currently serving as an executive producer for Creed II as well as Space Jam with Lebron James.
