Rumor: Metroid Prime Trilogy Heading to Switch

As we’ve known since last year’s E3, Metroid Prime 4 is in the works and Metroid fans around the world couldn’t be more excited. That said, people have also expressed their desires for the Metroid Prime Trilogy to receive an HD port on the Nintendo Switch. Not to get anyone’s hopes up, but that’s looking more and more likely.

Swedish retailer Inet has listed a Nintendo Switch port of the Metroid Prime Trilogy on their website set for a February 2019 release. Usually when this happens, it’s because the retailer accidentally listed the game before the time they were told to do so (looking at you Wal-Mart Canada), but what’s strange is that Inet doesn’t seem entirely sure about their listing. Translated, the description states that the game is likely to be announced at The Game Awards this Thursday. So either Inet knows something we don’t, or they’re making a prediction.

A Metroid Prime Trilogy HD announcement at The Game Awards 2018 wouldn’t be too far-fetched. Nintendo takes the award show very seriously, and have consistently brought their A-game since 2014 by showing off the first gameplay for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Last year, they also announced that Bayonetta 1 & 2 would be coming to the Switch and then dropped the World Premiere for Bayonetta 3. If they did a similar thing with the Metroid Prime Trilogy and 4, then some of us will probably scream with childish joy (me, I’m referring to me).

The Game Awards 2018 begins this Thursday, December 6 at 6:00 PM PST.
