Poor Things 4K UHD Review: 4Kurious Jumping

1 min read

The surreal Victorian visuals that are nominated for Oscars are now available to view in 4K. The digital 4K UHD of Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things exemplify the film’s dynamic visuals.

The black and white segments present a sharp contrast, where any shadow is a pure void. The curviture of the lenses is also heightened.

When Bella Baxter (Emma Stone)’s journeys into the world become color, the bright costumes and painted skies are vivid. It is a stunning way to experience the film for the first time or repeat viewings.

Sound offers a bit of surround. Bella banging the piano encompasses the room. The sea breeze blows on your back and the score plucks strings or pounds organs in your ear.

Three deleted scenes include one three minute addition of Bella magnificence telling off the brothel madam. The other two are very brief.

A 21 minute featurette covers character and performance, but also gets technically into film stock and the design of costumes and sets.
