Earlier today, it was revealed that Panzer Dragoon and its prequel Panzer Dragoon II Zwei would both be getting remakes. Both titles were released on the Sega Saturn and while Panzer Dragoon would be released on Windows PC and later on the PlayStation 2 in Japan via Sega Ages, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei would remain exclusive to the system.
Fast forward 22 years and Forever Entertainment has announced that it will be releasing both games working with Sega to bring the game to a new audience.
Forever Entertainment together with SEGA Holding Co., Ltd. from Japan will co-create and publish Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake. The premiere of the first part is planned before the end of 2019!
Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a refreshed version of Panzer Dragoon. The original version of the game had its premiere on the Sega Saturn console in 1995 and was well received by both players and critics. The entire Panzer Dragoon series has been repeatedly remade and released on many platforms. The last re-launch took place in April 2018 on Xbox One, where players can play Panzer Dragoon Orta with a backward compatibility. The new version of the game will be characterized by a completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story. The first materials from the game will be presented in the upcoming months!
Forever Entertainment might not be a name you are familiar with and to be honest I wouldn’t blame you as I had to go visit their website to see if I was familiar with anything they have released. They have mainly released a lot of mobile games for iOS and Android devices and are the team behind Fear Effect Sedna.
While the first title isn’t set for release until sometime towards the end of 2019, we should see more news about the remakes in the next few months which should hopefully also include what platforms the game will release on.
