Actress Linda Hamilton (Sarah Conner) may be in the new “Terminator 5” film directed by Justin Lin (Fast Five.) Michael Biehn may return to reprise his role as Kyle Reese as well. Nothing is written in stone, due to the fact that the rights are still being shopped around in Tinseltown. Word has it Universal, CBS, Lionsgate, and Sony are taking a hard look at financing the sci-fi/action feature.
Since Academy Award winning director/producer/editor James Cameron (Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2, True Lies, Titanic, Avatar) gave up the rights (under protest) to the franchise, the clock has been ticking to put more Terminator films into theaters. Copyright law states, if you assign your rights to another entity, those rights will revert back to you after 25 years. Cameron will resume ownership in 2018.
No writer has been attached to the film as of yet, but the legendary Robert Cort will produce. Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to the project with Justin Lin directing. “Terminator 5” is expected to explode into theaters sometime in 2014.
New questions have been launched on the web. If Sarah returns, will the storyline follow a different timeline? or Will the story pick up where “Terminator: Salvation” left off? Also, does anyone care anymore?
