Up until now, I may have been one of the few people that has never watched an episode of the hit series Once Upon A Time. I have always heard good things about the series and just never got around to sitting down to watch it. Well that has all changed and now I want to start from the beginning thanks to this complete fourth season on blu-ray.
In this fourth season, Disney’s hit animated movie Frozen, comes to life. All of your favorite characters from the animated movie such as Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Hans, Duke of Weselton, Oaken, Marshmallow and even Sven are brought to life in Storybrooke. The story centers around the two sisters, Elsa and Anna and even dives deeper into the family’s story than the animated version did, with a few twists that make the season totally unpredictable. I would like to go into further details but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who isn’t caught up with the most recent season but I can tell you what I enjoyed about this fourth season.
I really like the fact that the Frozen characters interact with quite a bit of other popular Disney fairytale characters such as Snow White, Captain Hook, Maleficent, the sorcerer from Fantasia, Robin Hood, Ursula, Cruela and lots more. The actors who portrayed the Frozen characters were just about spot on from the looks to the characters’ mannerisms. The creators of the show really paid attention to the character’s personalities and adapted them into live-action perfectly.
After you get done watching all five discs consisting of all 23 episodes from season four, which is almost seventeen hours, there’s still more Once Upon A Time to watch and enjoy. The bonus features include deleted scenes (blu-ray exclusive), Defrosting Frozen, which the cast and crew share their thoughts and experiences of bringing Frozen to life; Behind The Magic Tour, where Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) take you through the lively sets of the show; Three Who Stayed, in which you meet those who stayed in Storybrooke when disaster struck; and finally, bloopers and commentary.
The five disc collection comes with a cardboard slip cover to cover the plastic blu-ray case in which the discs fit nicely in. The case isn’t too bulky and won’t take up too much space on your movie shelf.
I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this blu-ray collection and the series. The story was unpredictable and it was fun to see who else from the childhood fairytales and Disney fairytales would show up in Storybrooke. ABC Studios gives you five discs with over seventeen hours of footage including the several bonus features and they give you your money’s worth.
I give Once Upon A Time: The Complete Fourth Season 8.5 fridges out of 10.
