Next Goal Wins 4K Review: Tai4ka Waititi

I missed this in theaters and it kind of slipped under the radar. If you’re like me and want to catch up, it looks great in 4K. They filmed on Hawaii so there’s a lot of lush, bright green.

Island atmosphere bleeds into your living room with island songs in the rear speakers. The bus drives past your couch. Of course cheering crowds at the game envelop the space.

A 26 minute behind the scenes feature is pretty substantial for any modern movie. It touches on each department, locations, sets, costume, adapting the true story and more.

1 deleted scene involves Taika Waititi’s narrator showing up singing a silly song and blessing the game with a prayer.

Next Goal Wins won’t be for everybody but there’s no better way to see it than 4K. It’ll only be on DVD and Blu-ray Feb. 17 but digitally it’s in 4K now.
