Caligula, the anime adaptation for the game The Caligula Effect, will premiere on April 8th. A new trailer has been released, featuring the song Paradigm Box by Chiharu Sawashiro and Shunsuke Takeuchi (see below).

The story features the virtual idol μ who gains self-awareness through exposure to user emotions’ as artists input their songs into her “program” to create music. However, when all she experiences are bitter negative emotions towards reality, she believes that reality causes only continuous suffering and desires to help them. She then attempts to “save” her users by luring them into a virtual reality world where they will be “free” from suffering. The story follows the “Going Home Club,” people who want to escape the virtual reality and return home to the real world. As someone who loves plot, this intriguing storyline reels in my attention. Even more, each of the composers featured in the anime are real composers!
