LOS ANGELES, CA – From Cinedigm Corp comes the inspiring new drama, SGT. WILL GARDNER. The film stars, Max Martini (13 HOURS, CAPTAIN PHILLIPS) as Will Gardner, an Iraq War Veteran, who sets out on a spirited motorcycle journey across America in hopes of reconciling with his young son and former wife (Elisabeth Röhm (“Law & Order”). Written and directed by Martini, the film expertly depicts the challenges and setbacks many veterans experience once they return home, as Gardner navigates the effects of PTSD and a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Omari Hardwick (Power, SORRY TO BOTHER YOU) joins Martini in leading a talented cast, including strong performances from Lily Rabe (“American Horror Story”), Dermot Mulroney (INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3), Robert Patrick (“Scorpion”, TERMINATOR 2), JoBeth Williams (POLTERGEIST), Luis Bordonada (BARRACUDA), Leo Martini (EDGE) and Gary Sinise (“CSI: New York”, FORREST GUMP).

“My hope with SGT. WILL GARDNER is to raise awareness for the on-going battles which returning soldiers encounter,” said Martini, whose production company, Mona Vista Productions, will donate a portion of the film’s proceeds to three charities which support veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), PTSD and veteran homelessness: Higher Ground, Warriors Heart and the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Luis Bordonada BIO:

Luis Bordonada is an American actor who joined the Army after graduating High School. He started his theatre education under the guidance of Prof. Hector Serrano, founder of Viva El Paso and Shakespeare on The Rocks Theater Festival. His first break in film came from the Hughes Brothers and their film, The Book of Eli. In the same year Luis was cast as the lead in the award-winning independent film, Ilegales (Illegal), for which he earned a Best Actor Award in Chicago’s Naperville Independent Film Festival. He has had recurring roles FX’s The Bridge, AMC’s Better Call Saul, along with guest starring on A&E’s Longmire. He will next star alongside Allison Tollman, Sophie Reid and Jobeth Williams in Barracuda, which premiered in SXSW 2017. Luis currently plays Nelson Herrera on Starz’ new critically acclaimed series, Vida. He recently wrapped on the show’s second season due for release on the Spring of 2019.
Luis is the son of a retired Army sergeant, Alexander Bordonada, who served three tours in Vietnam and Korea and was twice wounded in combat. This made his portrayal as Charlie Burroughs in the feature film SGT Will Gardner his most intimate role to date.
