This film was announced over five years ago. Is it ever coming out?
I mean, In July of 2019, at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige officially announced that Mahershala Ali would star in a reboot of Blade. I know because I was there. I witnessed it. Then nothing.
The BLADE project has faced numerous hurdles, as directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange both signed on to direct the movie at separate times but then later exited the project.
That being said , Blade does not have an official director at this time, as Demange left the project in June 2024. Though writer Eric Pearson, who has worked on a number of Marvel projects including 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok and 2021’s Black Widow, is currently working on the script. As Previous drafts were written by Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green.
So to sum up; Blade does not have a director, an approved script, or a release date at this time… so don’t hold your breath, waiting on this one.
