My Thoughts:

I give KanColle The Complete Series Essentials a B-.

KanColle or Kantai Collection is a unique anime to say the least. Based on the wildly popular game from Kakdokawa Games, Kancolle follows latest cute anime girl recruit Fubuki as she joins a battle ready squad of fleet girls who wear uniforms that are equiped with naval artillery. When I first heard about the premise it blew my mind how insanely off the beaten path this concept was but finally watching it I realized that the show itself took the easiest route in terms of storytelling without sacrificing interest.

The show is your typical slice of life story mixed in with naval battles here and there while following Fubukis inexperience going into said battles. Some characters have very defining features while quite a few others felt like the only thing distinguishing them is a different outfit and oh my goodness there are so many anime girls in this show. Don’t let your guard down though as this show is deceptively dark at times and has the ability to make you cry at a moments notice.

There is something wholesome about watching a show all around a group of anime girls tearing up the open sea while looking out for one another, the drama and love each episode brings fills the void in my dark meme filled heart.

The animation in KanColle is second to none with beautiful battle sequences and well made environments. The intro is also phenomenal and makes me happy.
