According to multiple sources, including Deadline, Jim Carrey is possibly going to star as Dr. “Eggman” Robotnik in the upcoming live action/CGI Sonic The Hedgehog movie from Paramount Pictures.
As many gamers know, Robotnik has been the primary antagonist of the Sonic franchise for decades, making his debut appearance in the first game in the series back on the Sega Genesis.
Carrey will join notable stars such as James Marsden (Westworld) and Tika Sumpter (Ride Along) in the Jeff Fowler directed film, which is currently scheduled to release next year.
Sonic The Hedgehog will serve as Fowlers’ directorial debut, who has been been previously nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Animated Short Film category for 2004’s Gopher Broke.
Currently there’s no date listed for the movie yet.
