Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise is joining the action comedy "Wichita," co-starring Cameron Diaz.

Sources say that both Cruise and Diaz have approved the screenplay.  Cruise will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.  James Mangold will direct.

Cruise has circled a number of potential projects since wrapping up "Valkyrie."  If he doesn't end up doing "Wichita," he will more than likely do the Len Wiseman thriller, "Motorcade."

Valkyrie was a good factual film. It offered little of the Hollywood side stories and drama that is usually thrown in around an actual historial piece. I was surprised Cruise did that film. Furthermore, his German sucked. Finally, I know that whatever he does next will only make a million, kajillion dollars.
