As earlier rumors went on saying stating that Anakin Skywalker was going to make a return in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and that it would be Hayden Christensen returning for the role, many mixed reactions stirred, but as we know from now watching the film, we know that there is no such thing. But how would Anakin look like in the film? Well thanks to The Art of The Force Awakens we might have our look at his design.
So what’s with the half face design? artist Iain McCaig Explains:
“When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow.” That inspired me to propose, for the first time, that Anakin’s ghost could come back … If we see Anakin Skywalker, because he does flow back and forth between Darth Vader and Anakin, let’s see him as a character with a dark and light side. The reason Luke is this whole new entity is because he was the first to acknowledge his own dark side — that it was not separate from him.”
It’s unclear how Anakin would have fit in the film other then maybe looming behind Kylo Ren in the scene where he is talking to his deformed helmet, or where Rey has her vision and we hear Darth Vader in the background.
