Just days after the announcement was made that actor Lawrence Fishburne would portray The Daily Planet’s Editor-in-Chief Perry White, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released a photo showing British actor Henry Cavill posing in the “Man of Steel” uniform.
The costume has a sleek and dark, rubbery leather look. The dark blue of the costume is capped with a huge and thick shield with a very large “S” on it. The letter is reminiscent of the old George Reeves television program of the fifties. Superman has his customary red boots and belt buckle, along with an extremely long red cape, which has the same texture as the blue part of his suit. The picture captures Superman coming through a huge circular safe/vault door. Sparks fly, wires and cables dangle, and debris is scattered about the floor. The darkened image gives the impression that Superman is not only physically powerful, but by his facial expression and posture, someone who is not to be trifled with.
“Superman: Man of Steel” is currently shooting in Chicago. It is expected to land in theaters on June 14th, 2013. Actor Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent/Superman. Other members of the cast include Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Lawrence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Henry Lennix, and Christopher Meloni. The screenplay is written by David S. Goyer (“Batman Begins”), which is based on a story created by David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan. Zack Snyder (“Watchmen,” “300”) directs.
