Harry Potter‘s Hogwarts school was not a standalone school of wizardry in the world. There were others introduced in the films such as Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (France) and Durmstrang Institute (Scandinavia.) Now author J.K. Rowling has confirmed, through tweets over the weekend, that an American school of wizardry does indeed exist.

The school in America may be featured in the upcoming Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Rowling was reluctant to give details on the name of the American school, but she did say the school would not be based in New York and would be founded on the principles of Native American culture as well as having a name with an “immigrant” element to it.

The protagonist in Fantastic Beasts’ Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) will indeed meet students of the American school past and present. No other details are known at this time, but Rowling is writing the screenplay for the film.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released on November 18, 2016 in 3D and IMAX. The film stars Eddie Redmayne. J.K. Rowling will write the screenplay, while David Yates directs.
