My Thoughts

I give the Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween Blu-ray a B.

Best Friends, Sonny and Sam started a Junk collecting business after school in hopes to find treasures in other people’s homes.  When cleaning out the old Stine house, they discovered a locked book.  When the two open the locked book they unleash a supernatural force which turns out to be a Dummy called Slappy.

The trailer does not do this Blu-ray justice.  I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this film.  It’s a great film to watch with the entire family.  Not only will kids love it.  The adults will have a blast as well.

There are many things I liked about this film.  Though Slappy is tame compared to Dummies in other films, he does have a sinister side to him.  You have to admit.  Any doll just sitting on the couch or a shelf looks creepy.  I don’t know if its because I’ve seen too many horror films but to me, they add an element of horror to any film.  For a Dummy, he was calculated and knew exactly what he wanted.  He was a unique addition to the cast. I usually don’t like too much CGI in a film because I feel like its similar to watching an EDM concert on steroids.  Too much of it within a scene can be distracting but, in this film, it fits in perfectly. The creatures were out of something from an 80s horror film and I really enjoyed when the huge spider decoration from the neighbor’s yard came to life.
