With Sony pretty much going all out with their Spider-Man properties, they seem to want to get every cent they can from every character they have. Which actually is a good idea, but with 3 villains in one movie, now that’s a bad idea. The reason it’s a bad idea is because they only have so much screen time for each character, that it is really hard to build that character. Well, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 may not be villain overload after all.
At this year’s South By South West film festival, Director Marc Webb spoke to the crowd about the specific concern of too many villains in the film. Not only did he address the concern, but he also gave out a spoiler. Here it is…
“Paul [Giamatti] is in the movie for four minutes.”
If this is the case, what Sony & Webb could be doing is introducing the character to audiences so Sony could potentially use him in a later sequel or even one of the rumored villain films. That could actually be a great idea.
How do you feel about Rhino having a small cameo & the issue of overloading villains in a film?
