Yuji Naka is a name that will always live in the hearts of many Sega fans including fans of Sonic the Hedgehog. A programmer who worked on many Sega titles including Night Into Dreams, Phantasy Star 1 & 2, Burning Rangers but he will probably always be best known for his work as part of Sonic Team working on the original Sonic the Hedgehog games before eventually becoming a producer in 1994.
Eventually Naka would leave Sega in 2006, wanting to get away from that high level managerial nonsense as wanted to get back into real game development, eventually creating new studio Prope in 2006. While the studio would go on to create games such as Let’s Tap (2008), Ivy the Kiwi? (2009), Fishing Resort (2011) and Rodea the Sky Soldier (2015), it seems that Naka has moved on to a new position this time at Square Enix, which he has confirmed via Twitter.
Just a quick note to let you know, I joined SQUARE ENIX in January.
I’m joining game development as before, and strive to develop games at SQUARE ENIX.
I aim to develop an enjoyable game, please look forward to it.

It will definitely be interesting to see what Yuji Naka’s experience will bring to the table and what his first project will be.
