Elizabeth Olsen who will be playing Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” recently sat down with Total Film to discuss her wardrobe for the film. From the sounds of it, it won’t be too much like the comics. Here’s what Olsen had to say…
“I don’t think Joss ever would have hired me, honestly, if he wanted me to wear those outfits. I am not a professional athlete and nor am I a model. Wearing those costumes wouldn’t be fun for anyone who wasn’t those things. He already had a different idea. It respects and involves the comic book character, but it’s different. More rooted. It’s for someone today… If someone walked around wearing what she wore in the comics, people would stop and say, ‘What the hell… she thinks she’s a superhero!‘”
Unlike what Bryan Singer has done with the X-men films, Whedon has made the uniforms for the characters pretty similar to the comic versions of the characters. Whedon’s designs don’t differ too much to where they are no longer recognizable as what we’ve seen in the comics. So I trust that it wouldn’t be too far off from the original Scarlet Witch. Just in case you’re wondering, here’s what the comic version looks like:
As you can see, there are probably some places here & there that she will need to cover up a bit, being a Disney movie & all.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” just started filming earlier this week.
