Today marks the first day that Jason West and Vince Zampella stuck their heads out of their newly formed company since the fallout of the Activision/Call of Duty debacle.
For those of you that don’t know, Activision fired Infinity Ward owners West and Zampella back in March 2010 from their studio following the success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Lawsuits, countersuits, and lots of finger pointing left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and the two former owners (along with a large chunk of the Infinity Ward development team) ended up hooking up with Electronic Arts (EA) under a new name: Respawn Entertainment.
And today, at EA’s press conference the day before E3…Respawn has emerged with a possible Call of Duty killer: Titanfall.
In Titanfall, you play a “pilot” where you can fight a la traditional First Person Shooter in what appears to be standard warfare settings. But what makes this title different are the presence of the mighty Titans, giant 10+ foot mecha that pilots can easily take control of. In addition, these mechs aren’t your average, slow running mecha; these machines are fast running, agile mobile suits.
It’s Iron Man vs. Iron Man.
People that are lucky to attend this year’s E3 may be able to play this highly anticipated title set to release in Spring 2014.
