Ever since the announcements of Disney purchasing 14 acres of land and Star Wars type lands to start making their way into the parks, there have been lots of speculations as to where Disney would fit all of these Star Wars themed attractions. Well it looks like quite a few popular attractions will be affected.

One attraction/area that will be closed permanently will be Big Thunder Ranch. Big Thunder Ranch is home of the barbecue restaurant, petting zoo and the Jamboree stage. This will all close for good starting Jan.10.

The Disney Railroad will also be out service but only temporarily, along with Fantasmic!, and everything else within the Mark Twain Riverboat area. According to a Disney spokesman, some of the water will be drained and diverted to the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment system, where it will be stored and treated, When the time comes to refill the rivers, Disney will replenish from the same system.

The employees in the affected areas are said to still have jobs but in other areas in the park.

The construction is said to take at least a year but there is no set date as to when the new Star Wars attractions in that particular area will open.
