George Clooney is gearing up to direct and star in another feature based on historical events, and he has assembled some outstanding actors for the project. Besides himself, Clooney has enlisted the talents of thespians like Cate Blanchett, Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin (“The Artist,”) John Goodman, Bob Balaban, and Hugh Bonneville.  The period drama will be co-produced between Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox.

George Clooney and Grant Heslov wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Robert M. Edsel, which focuses on a crew of art historians and museum curators united to recover renown works of art stolen by the Nazis. These items must be saved before Hitler gives the orders to destroy them.

The film will go into production on March 1st in Europe.  Heslov and Clooney are producing through their Smokehouse banner.  Alexander Desplat will score the film, while George Clooney directs.
