THR is reporting that DreamWorks has picked up a sci-fi thriller called Intelligent Life, written by director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed, Jurassic World) and his writing partner Derek Connolly. Trevorrow is also attached to direct the film, and sources have told THR that the tone harkens to Safety Not Guaranteed and is a big idea surrounded by rich characters.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but apparently Intelligent Life is a new take on an earlier Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly project called The Ambassador, which was going to be Trevorrow’s follow-up to Safety Not Guaranteed. The Ambassador would have followed a U.N. worker in a department that was to represent humankind in the event of alien contact. The worker falls in love with a mysterious woman, who turns out to be an alien.
Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12, 2015.
