Big news in the animation world, the director behind the enormously successful Toy Story 3 and the Oscar winning film, Coco, Lee Unkrich has announced he’ll be leaving Pixar Animation Studios. Unkrich announced the news via his Twitter account.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding his departure, Unkrich is quoted as saying “I’m not leaving to make films at another studio; instead, I look forward to spending much-needed time with my family and pursuing interests that have long been back-burnered,”
Lee Unkrich began his career at Pixar 25 years ago as an editor on the first Toy Story film. He went on to co-direct Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo.
