According to variety, Live By Night has been given a greenlight by Warner Bros. with plans to start filming this November, so it appears that Ben Affleck is set to direct the film. He already has Elle Fanning, Sienna miller, and Zoe Saldana to star alongside himself. The film has an October 7, 2016 released date.
However, confirming earlier rumors, Deadline is reporting that Affleck is indeed working with DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns on the Screenplay for a standalone Batman movie that Affleck will co-write, direct, and star in, after he’s finished with Live By Night.
According to Deadline, Affleck and Johns are so in sync and may even finish the script for the film by the end of the summer. Then Affleck will turn his attention to Live By Night. The report doesn’t specify where in the DC timeline the Batman movie will be slotted, but the lineup can always shift.
