Pink has never been pinker than in Barbie on 4K UHD. The film opens in Barbie Land to show off all the pastel capabilities of 4K TVs. The life sized Barbie world looks palpably inhabitable and the simplicity of artificial backdrops makes them more vivid.
Barbie and Ken stand out in the real world with the bright colors they wear. Mattel HQ is also a surreal dystopian geometric grid.
Six bonus features touch on aspects of film in breezy Barbie style. One on the music covers “I’m Just Ken.” The makeup really matters in Barbie to give actors the look of dolls. And creating Barbie Land goes into making that world life size.
Behind the scenes footage shows crew members working on the practical sets and making those scene transitions happen in real time before the cameras.
