About

Nukethefridge.com is owned and operated by Jason Nicholl and Luis Lecca.

Nuked the Fridge: is an expression used by movie fans and critics alike to denote the point in which a film or television program veers off into the realm of the ridiculous and stupid. It is a moment that the story being viewed stops becoming believable, and becomes so over the top that any reaction other than laughter is impossible. Laughter in the “we are laughing at you, not with you” sense. This is also the point of no return for the said movie or film franchise, as there is no way to steer it away from the disaster it has become. In the case of a successful and popular film franchise, it is the moment where the viewer wishes the film makers had stopped at the previous film and left well enough alone.

Origin
The phrase refers to a scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where in order to find some safety from a nuclear bomb blast, Indiana hides in a refrigerator, which is then thrown miles by the blast, bounces around several dozen times, and then Indiana emerges unscathed, with gophers looking on.

Concerning Reviews:

A movie review is a subjective thing. A movie I might hate, you might love, and vice versa. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But when you come to a website to read the latest movie review, you at least expect that the opinion being given is a true and heartfelt one, not one paid for by the filmmakers. That is why we here at Nuked the Fridge pledge to you that we will NEVER review a movie that we did not pay for ourselves (Unless we tell you upfront that we went to a free screening – in which case if it sucks, we’ll tell you). We will not accept freebies from studios in exchange for a positive review. Our opinions will be our opinions. If you don’t agree with our opinions, that is fine, and we will urge you to post your own review in kind. All opinions are welcome on this site, as long as they weren’t paid for. You can trust us on that.

It is for that reason our reviews might not make it online until the day of the movie opening, or even a few days later. Please be patient with us on that. If you do not see a review from us on a certain big event film, than that is because we accepted some swag or advertising dollars from the studio in question. In that event, we will be featuring reviews on our front page from our members who posted reviews in our forums.

Concerning the Comment System:

Our comment system will always be moderator free. On so many message boards and talk backs, if your opinion doesn’t meet the agreement of the all elusive “moderator”, you are either warned to stop flame baiting, your message is deleted, or you are banned, or all of the above. We believe in the ideal of free speech. So go ahead, speak your mind. You might get a bunch of posters angry at you, and you might feel their wrath, but you will never be censored here. That is unless you break one of our rules….no threats against others (death, bodily harm, sexual harassing, racial epitaphs, etc.) and NO publishing of pornographic or sexual images.
