The price-tag for airing a commercial during the Super Bowl is huge, upwards of $8 million. And I’m surprised that a smaller film, like Novocaine warrants the expense. Paramont Executives either have a lot more faith in this action comedy than I do. Or they just have more money than sense…
The synopsis… “When the girl of his dreams (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate (Jack Quaid) turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.”
– I know I’m overthinking this, but they’re treating this not-feeling-pain condition like it’s a form of invulnerability. But! I mean, if he gets stabbed or shot, he could still bleed out and die, pretty quickly. If muscles are damaged in his leg, he wouldn’t be able to walk. If he sticks his hand in a fryer, he would sear his skin off…
That being said, I know this is a comedy and I’m overthinking it. But the absurd premise keeps getting in the way for me.
